We recently began making the Veneer Board for our hand forged Chess and Checkers Sets and completely fell in love with the process. The board has 1.75 inch squares (19 inches overall) made from maple and walnut veneer. A strip of ebony separates the playing field from the stunning curly walnut border that waterfalls over the edges. We back the bottom side of the board with walnut and finish it all off with three coats of high end, silky smooth flat polyurethane.
• These are typically made-to-order with each piece of veneer being sawn and arranged by hand.
